oh my goodness....
i'd like to make up some exciting explanation as to why i just spend the last almost two hours on the phone with a lovely man in India. but there is none, except that he tried very hard (without success) to help me get my wireless internet working on my desktop.
the geeksquad guy at best buy made it sound so freakin easy.
he showed me which usb to buy...and i specifically said to him:
"ok, so now i can go home...stick this into my usb on my desktop...install the cd, and it will automatically work, right??"
he very, very reassuredly said, "yep, that's all there is to it, ma'am!"
as i scampered off to the never-ending Christmas cashier line, i thought, "awesome! should be as easy as walkin to the fridge for a glass of milk."
little did i know that i'd have to travel to India, wrap my hands around the cow's udder, and squeeze with all my might...just to find out that MY cow had been milked earlier in the evening and was now COMPLETELY dry.
yes, after two hours of trying desperately to understand the broken English on the other end of the phone, and wearing the carpet out in my tyt new pumas between my desktop in my room and abby's laptop in the living room...there is still no internet on my computer. i know our router's model number by heart and feel bonded for life with the Linksys Support Staff.
in the end, Ammad told me that he'd like me to exchange the usb for a different model and try that one. so off i go, back to best buy tomorrow try again.

Gretchen - was that comment in reference to me??!! And here this whole time i thought the 'geniee' comment was a loving, caring, thankful, understanding and gracious term. Now I find out it truly means, "arg, you again. can you just get it right the first time?!!!!!! You're so annoying!"
