Autumn Bliss, by n.smith

My rebuttal to Abigail Joy Amos’ blog entitled, “Cold.”

I'm pretty sure weather doesn't get any better than this.

Thanks to Fall in Minnesota…
i walk out at 7am in dress pants and a v-neck sweater,
a mug of steaming coffee in my hand,
intoxicated by the smell of changing seasons in the air,
the crunch and crackle of colored leaves beneath the soles of my shoes,
every kind of candy and chocolate I love is on sale ,
the brush of cool air across my cheek serves as a charming promise that
puffy vests,
peppermint mochas and
Christmas are near.
How I love Autumn…
A fresh start at school.
My sister’s volleyball season.
Orchards.
Salted Pumpkins seeds.
high school
college
pro
FOOTBALL.
Hooded sweatshirts.
Thanks to Fall in Minnesota…
everyday is an occasion for hot cider and knit mittens,
season premiers flood the airwaves,
finally…the perfect temperature for a long, enjoyable saturday morning run,
i’m reunited with a plethora of light-weight jackets
the heat from a bonfire now has purpose
seeing my breath for the first time gives me undeniable assurance that
basketball season
is right around the corner.

i, on the other hand, am thoroughly depressed.

i am convinced that if i said i loved fall, you would write about how much you hate it.

BRING ON THE 80 DEGREE APARTMENT.
